To be honest its actually not that bad. Plus that you have an ear for melodies and music, the whole language is sort of based on music cuz it works with vocal tones. Grammar is really easy only thing thats difficult is the writing of symbols. I've been studying russian also, and i would say that russian is harder then mandarin.
