I didnt know that... But it shows :grinning:

Yep. Those were the good old days. Telnet, Compuserve, and The Roundtable. The days of 300 baud modems. I loved The Roundtable. It was written by a friend of my Dad's, another space scientist like him from Ford Aero. The Roundtable was a "forum" consisting of two Radio Shack Model 4 computers and 16 phone lines. So 16 people could be on it at once. 8 people on the "Upper Band" and 8 on the "Lower Band", one Band on each Model 4.

Plus there was a BBS attached to the system that you could get to by dropping out of the Band you were in and into the BBS. And, it had "private chat" too. If you wanted to talk privately with someone, you could both drop out of the Band and into Private Chat.

The Roundtable was ahead of its time and it ran for about 3 years. We called the programmer "ghod", and his son, who took care of billing (yes, it was a pay service) who we called "Guido". If you didn't pay your monthly RT bill, Guido shot you in the kneecap and you couldn't log back in again until you paid. Ha! Man, those were great times. That's where I had my "The Vixen" name. :grinning: :cat:
