I am looking for some quality headphones for use mostly associated w/ music as I am beginning school in Music Production, and I would also like them to be used secondary with xbox 360 gaming if possible. The sound quality of the music being the most important factor of the two.

I would like my mixes to take full advantage of 5.1 sound if possible but if there is a headphone that is only Stereo and better for both gaming and music than I will go with that choice. Thanks for any help guys, I will be waiting quite impatently for your responses. :grinning:

Ohh ya, and I need bass in this headphones!!!!!!!

i don't really believe in 5.1 headphones. yes, the ear does have receptors to detect sound coming from diff angles, but the ear shapes are also largely responsible for spatial hearing, so that gets lost. (unless simulated by software, which of course also can be done with stereo only headphones.) so personally i'd recommend good quality stereo headphones.

Big Help

Thank you much bud. I have then decided on some good Stereo headphones but now, which to choose? Sound quality for music is most important, but also would like to use with Xbox 360. I have read through many posts but none address the issue of using headphones for any other reason than music, understandably. Any help with the final choice? (Keeping in mind that I NEED some good bass) Thank you =)

unfortunately i don't have enough experience with hifi headphones to give specific advice. i only know dj headphones, and while they're quite good quality, they generally lack bass and aren't really hifi. so someone else should be able to give more insight.

Well, thanks again for your help. It helps.

My admissions adviser at the recording & production school I will be attending recommended either of the following. Has anyone used or know anything about these headphones, anything helps. Thanks again for any help.

Sony MDR-7506
Sony MDR-7509HD

here a good ones:

Sennheiser HD212 Pro, not 5.1:music:

I'm using Sennheiser HD 25-C II, which I bought mainly for my music production.

Excellent quality studio monitoring headphones.

Was watching Casino Royale Bluray last night with these on, awesome sound!
Great for gaming as well.
