8,611 m, Karakoram range, Pakistan/China
Only two Slovaks have ever stood on the summit of one of the most difficult mountains in history – Peter Božík (1986) and Peter Hámor (2012). Both without supplemental oxygen. On August 11 at 17:13 Pakistan time, Lenka Poláčková joined them as the first Slovak woman, and at the same time as the only Slovak who has stood on the summits of the two highest mountains in the world without supplemental oxygen.

“We have just descended to the base camp. It was really tough. Honza, due to poor acclimatization, climbed without O₂ up to 8,100 m, then continued to the summit with artificial oxygen support. The wild weather troubled us until the very end; the constant rock avalanches were especially terrible. We will share summit photos and impressions as soon as we get some rest and catch a signal.”
