Here's mine
The fact that Martin Garrix has been nominated for best trance artist is complete bullshit, no doubt.
But that this "has nothing to do with trance" is a bit strange, because everything is there: Great (symphonic) melodies, 4x4 beats etc. The only thing different with the early 2000's trance is that it's evolved, it's grown, expanded etc etc. Nothing ever stays the same, people change, styles change, music changes. If everything wouldn't change, who knows maybe we'd still be singing Gregorian chants in recluse. Point is, this is what people nowadays ALSO call trance. It's just mixed with other styles, maybe call it trouse? A fusion of trance and house. Or complectrouse, complectrance, complexhause awesomesauce whatever ...

What if Rock musicians started using similar samples to Trance in their music, would it be fully acceptable to call it Trance, too?
What if Bhangra music started using electronic elements and Trance melodies, would it also be acceptable to call it Trance?

No. No it would not.

Having similarities does not make something the same.
I walk on two feet, as do penguins. Am I a penguin? No.
Should I be called a Huguine because we share similarities? (aka 'Trouse') No.

Trance is Trance. House is House. I am not a penguin.

And no, if Rock would use Trance elements, it wouldn't become Trance. But guess what, if trance would use Rock elements, it would still be Trance.
As would Trance remain Trance, if it uses House elements, and Electro elements. That is why I would still call this Trance. Hence I say, this is what we call Trance nowadays, even though it sounds different from the 2000's Trance.
