You don't have a problem with dogs?
Sometimes, but fortunately very rarely in recent years. Dog owners here are required to keep their animals on a leash. That makes it much safer. But a dog can always escape. At night, most people are sleeping. And dogs. Safer. And I love the silence.

I've never seen anyone go for a walk with their cat, I suppose it must be calmer than with a dog.

Jacky is never on a leash. To me, the cat is a completely free animal. She follows me of her own free will. 95 percent of the time she follows me. She wanders around me: in front of me, behind me, then left, then right again. She knows she shouldn't walk right in front of my feet.
Five percent of the time she leads the way. I follow swiftly. She knows the way back home.

When she and Liana were kittens, we attracted a lot of attention on the street. We often walked during the day, the evening. Children from the neighborhood couldn't get enough of it. People pulled back their curtains to see us: a man with two kitties.

But also disbelief. At night. Checks by the police, who just found it suspicious behavior. While one officer checked my details with my passport in the police car further down the road, his colleague asked me, "Where on earth is that cat of mine!" He waved his large black Maglite flashlight. I made a quick nod of my head. In the darkness, my little black cat was sitting waiting for us to finish. Two meters away. The officer was speechless. A moment later, we were able to walk on.

Madammeke is now sleeping with her head against the computer keyboard again.

I would also be suspicious if I met a polar bear and a black cat on a nightwalk :rofl::rofl:
