you followed the trail?
Yes, I did. Thank you.
you followed the trail?
yes
and pardon my ignorance.. Ubuntu and Kubuntu aren't different?
What do they mean over at the Torrents part of the site where it says to keep something open for as long as possible? Keep what open, exactly? (??)
the new one
Ubuntu comes bundled with Gnome desktop as default install, Kubuntu is same underlying OS but bundles KDE. Most people new to Linux prefer KDE. So does Linus Torvalds. Most US companies that are trying to commercial open source Linux support Gnome, e.g. Suse, IBM, and Sun.
cool. i've been watching and waiting development for over 1 year for the kde4 stuff to hit. Based on track record, it won't be stable until 4.2...
I don't use KDE anymore. Used in in 1.x, 2.x, and then ditched it early 3.x days. Became too bloated, slow, and buggy. Never was much of a Gnome fan. So rolled my own lightweight desktops based on Blackbox, Fluxbox, and then OpenBox until I got upgraded hw.
i'm so new at this that i'm not too adventurous yet
