What do they mean over at the Torrents part of the site where it says to keep something open for as long as possible? Keep what open, exactly? (??)

yes :)

and pardon my ignorance.. Ubuntu and Kubuntu aren't different? :)

Ubuntu comes bundled with Gnome desktop as default install, Kubuntu is same underlying OS but bundles KDE. Most people new to Linux prefer KDE. So does Linus Torvalds. Most US companies that are trying to commercial open source Linux support Gnome, e.g. Suse, IBM, and Sun.

I'm above a shiver line
where you let things come your way
I falling so
it triggers off my soul
I'm falling in

Close up
I’m just lying on and feather now
I’m just flying across the ice field glass empire
You can follow me and take off high
Im sliding off the world
Im sliding off the world (2X)

the new one

cool. i've been watching and waiting development for over 1 year for the kde4 stuff to hit. Based on track record, it won't be stable until 4.2... :yikes:

I don't use KDE anymore. Used in in 1.x, 2.x, and then ditched it early 3.x days. Became too bloated, slow, and buggy. Never was much of a Gnome fan. So rolled my own lightweight desktops based on Blackbox, Fluxbox, and then OpenBox until I got upgraded hw.

KDE4 might just be the one to bring me back to KDE. I'm going to do a system rebuild here in a bit. Add another 2GB of RAM and 2 x 750GB drives just arrived today.

btw- Stick with KDE. Save the adventure for later.
