Ok I feel entitled to comment on Violeta's video, since I also appear there a couple of times

On the high average age at Dutch trance parties: of course it's my fault! My presence is enough to raise it by a couple of years!

On the acceptance of the various music styles: of course people should not say they dislike what they do not know (please everybody use the term "dislike" and not "hate"). However:
  • for sure people often associate their life experience with music: if everybody hugs me at Trance parties and I get no attention while listening to Techno, I wll like Trance more than Techno
  • it is my personal opinion that there is a physical component as well, something like "the higher your metabolism, the higher the BPMs"
  • The same person in different situations may like different music, tastes are not carved in stone even for the die-hards.
  • One thing is tastes, the other is expectations. If I expect an uplifting set but I get something else, I will be disappointed, no matter the quality of this "something else". Then I will mentally associate the new sounds with my feeling of disappointment, and then I will not like that kind of music. Had I first listened to the same tracks in a different context, I might have become a fan of the new style.
So the situation is really much more complex... Maybe the old Latins were right in saying "de gustibus non est disputandum" (tastes must not be discussed)!
