You know he is reading all of this crap. And most of you, instead of telling him exactly why a transition isn't right, or why Master Tempo is inappropriate (whatever that is), you are simply saying that it sucks. That's not constructive criticism. It's a personal attack. How great were you at your first sets? Did everyone wrinkle up their noses and say that you sucked? Or did they say, well, maybe you could do this with that transition instead of what you did. Be adults. Be decent. You are not just representing yourselves here. You are representing AfterHours and you are representing ME, and I don't appreciate the way you're acting. Grow up. :P

Shall we say this is 'bucket' then?

Hello Playdoh

actually it is. there's nothing to say about why master tempo sucks, it just sounds bad, that's it. either you hear it or you don't, apparently he doesn't. the only fix for it: don't use it.

same about the transitions: either they're in beat or they aren't. they might be here, but it sounds crap because of the master tempo. before we can start telling him about what to do better with eq'ing or timing or whatever, they have to be at least somewhat decent, which they aren't.

of course everyone has to start at some point, but you should have a minimum of expertise before going on air. and in fact yes, they did say my first sets sucked. any regular listener can only tell you if something is good or bad, they can't give advice about what to do better, cause they don't know themselves.

You are not just representing yourselves here. You are representing AfterHours and you are representing ME, and I don't appreciate the way you're acting. Grow up. :P

i'm only representing myself and nobody else :P

I am not familiar with transitions techniques to explain to him, but all what I know, that the first two transitions were unusually, awful.
And no track-list.

My vote is locked.

Hello wa-wa-wailo

No. That is no help to him at all. Tell him EXACTLY WHY you think it's bucket. Give the reasons. Otherwise he can't learn to be better and isn't that what we want for him? To realize his dreams at least HERE? You can do better than that Playdoh. Try again. :(

do you know why a transition is bad when you hear a bad one? do you know what needs to be done to make it better?

That is marginally better. Now he knows where to start looking for improvement. Thank you. :cat:

i don't quite get what you're trying to say

do you know why a transition is bad when you hear a bad one? do you know what needs to be done to make it better?

No. I'm not a DJ. YOU ARE. YOU can tell him exactly why. That is part of your task as someone who DOES know how to do it beautifully, and you most certainly do. To teach the next young guys coming up how to do it and what to look for. (kiss) :grinning:

He said that if we get the reputation for being mean, people won't want to come here and they won't want to play their sets here. And is that what we want? I don't. :(

OK, untill now we all will be very kind:)

if i tried to tell him here what he needs to do to improve, i would probably exceed the word limit for a post :P

i'll be brutally honest: if a dj makes good sets, he will get good feedback. if he makes bad sets, he will get bad feedback. if he doesnt want bad feedback, he either needs to improve or stop djing. and in the latter case, we got rid of a bad show. that's a win for us.

dj maras uploaded a wrong mix, this is what was told to me.

This is a perfect example of re examine the shows before DJ's upload them.

No need to criticize when this is the first time it happened like this.

see comment bellow, that is not right .....having a nice atmosphere and community also means being honest to the Dj's that have their sets on air rather than just saying.."woow this is great" when in fact is not what the poster really thinks

OK, untill now we all will be very kind:)

yes, but we need to be honest and tell the truth about what we think, in a nice way tho

hello im sorry for what has happened, by mistake i uploaded wrong set, I had made 3 sets originally and been testing with a few options, once again sorry for this, next time I will pre listen before I upload.

thx...

I knew something had to be wrong, because your last show wasn't like this. I'm glad I defended you anyway. And I still want you for TAP. (kiss):cat:

I'm ALL for honesty. I've been on the losing side when folks are not. But there are ways to present it in such a way as to be helpful rather than hurtful.

dfx: And sometimes, you're just plain brutal. Honest or not. Maybe you could just tone it down just a hair. I don't mean kiss his ass, and you know that that's not what I mean. Give him the benefit of your experience not a punch in the guts. :cat:
