YOJI has already made a big name as one of the icons of the underground electronic music scene, particularly in Europe after his gigs at big events including Sensation, Mystery land, Dance Valley. His residency at GIGA in Japan has also given him a big following in his country of Japan. YOJI recently played at Southern California's Electric Daisy Carnival in June 2009 on the circuitGROUNDS stage in front a crowd measured in the tens of thousands.[1]
Style
His current style can be described as a mix between Hard Dance, Hard Trance and Nu-NRG[2]. However, YOJI himself calls the style "Tech Dance" and it is mainly characterised by its high speed, great amount of energy and glitchy percussion and rhythms, further accentuated by YOJI's equally energetic performance style. Many of the latest releases on his label, Hellhouse, have been in this style of music. Despite mainly focusing on electronic music, YOJI is also a very good player of the electric guitar, having roots in punk rock before his dance music production and proving so when improvising on one during some sets of fellow Japanese DJ Remo-con.
