Love this tuuuuunnne !!

Thats wrong, if asked about your religion, its Sikhism, and not Punjabi. If asked about your origin, its Punjabi, and which has strong roots with the state of Punjab in India. As similiar to my case, that I am a Hindu by religion but a Bengali by origin hailing from the state of West Bengal, which is the portion of India previously combined with Bangladesh.

in·iq·ui·trance: Guess your views about the sub continent has got back to its original state of confusion now!
well, tomek asked me what am i so i said punjabi since that's what we're known by most of the time over here rather than sikh. :smile1:

Yeah, I can't say it's getting much clearer, there's more names all the time. :) But actually, I'm reading a book right now about Delhi, called "City of Djinns", and the link between Punjabis and Sikhs helps clarify some things for me...

Isn't 'indian' not a religion, but rather a ? They'd be Hindu or Muslim or Punjabi/Sikh, etc? Or is there no such thing as an 'Indian'?

Indian is synonymous to Spanish, Polish, British, French etc.

Ans yes, we have Indians who are either Hindu or Muslim or Sikh or Christian or Buddhist

Ok, that makes sense. Indian is the nationality, Hindu or Buddhist is the religion. And Bengali, Punjabi, Goan, etc are people from regions in/around India itself...
