I have a question about remixes. There are always more remixes than original compositions, which makes sense. It's easier to remix, requires less talent. My question is, do the remixers get permission from the original artist to make the remix? Or is it a generally understood thing that remixes are allowed, no permission needed? :cat:

official remixes require a "remix package" from the original artist or the label, which is basically the track in pieces, the raw software layout. this implies permission to remix. however for releasing a remix, explicit permission must be given, by label or artist, which usually includes sharing the license.

all other forms of remixes are "bootlegs" :mask:
