What happened to Ian Van Dahl actually?

Ian van Dahl was considered poptrance, and only this remix made it really trancy. Back when Wippenberg could make shitloads on the 138style. They tried popdance with dark edge, as a "comeback" but failed it seems. Ahh the days where this was normal.....
