Was really an amazing show! Inkfish, Hans Zimmer, CHOONS!:choon:

Thanks! I will need to make the version with beats out of the last track;)

That last track is crying out to be made into trance track

Yeah. dope set.

We need more collabos with Mr. Moor!

There is one collaboration with Andy coming soon. We started it in Helsinki when Andy was here DJing and hopefully it will be out on AVA before end of the year.

I see, but even if you focus on progressive and trance, there can be still a lot of variety within those areas, say, more moody, less summerish prog trance. Would be nice for a change :)

Oh... the pain that goes every month into deciding what tracks NOT to play. There are always lots of variation but at the end it's down to what are the strongest tracks of the month. Many of the more atmospheric and moody tracks (like the stuff from Mistique Music) aren't maybe so strong just by themselves but work better as part of a bigger picture. That's maybe why they tend to give room for the more "hooky" and melodic tracks.

I guess I'm also not moodiest guy on the planet which may dictate some of my choices too;) But maybe doing some themed sets (ambient/psy/underground/old school) might be a good idea. Lets see how September will sound like...

10. Hans Zimmer: Time
Last but definitely not the least. This is very traditional Hans Zimmer with an uplifting eight bar chord structure building seemingly endlessly and resulting in a proper Hollywood crescendo. 'Time' is the closing track of the film Inception which I can highly recommend. This track is crying for a remix and maybe I will find the time to make one. The feeling of hearing this during the closing credits was so close to hearing 'Requiem For A Dream' theme which then resulted in 'Requiem' some years later.

Excellent idea :) It would almost be a crime not to make one :mask:

My opinion once again: Leave the Classics UNTOUCHED, especially if they get changed like this Ayla track..from melodic to more progressive...

I believe, that music gets stuck if (classic) tracks get remixed and remixed again...where is the creativity to make new future Classics??

Sorry for being a bit off topic, just my opinion :) :friends:

I kinda agree with you as to me the original "Forward Forever, Backwards Never" mentality is definitely big part of electronic dance music's DNA, but I have to say that remixing and remaking has also been big part of DJ culture and club culture since the New York disco years.

Hey again Orkidea

didn't see your comment yesterday, sorry.

I think I was a bit too strict and narrow minded yesterday

As you said, there are good and bad remixes and remakes, I can't judge about them in general! Maybe these many really bad ones that "gives you nightmares" leaded to my negative comment about Remixes of Classics.

I also get the point that remakes can help not to forget about a song and/or show it to a new generation by adding some up to date sounds to it.

To be honest, I was listening to Remixes of really really old dance tunes and wasn't aware that it's a remix as I didn't know the original.

So it can be only problem if you know the original song!
And that's the case now for me with the 90ies...touching me more than 80ies reworks as I had no emotional link/memories to it.
Guess that's one of the reasons why I prefered the originals recently..

Well, I totally agree with your comment above and have to admit, that you are way longer in the EDM scene than me...therefore much more competence to judge about it than me :) :friends:
