but ableton is mixing without turntables? like a virtual mixer dj?
You can mix live in Abelton, or you can line up all the tracks ahead of time. Like a "pre-recorded" set.
For a megamix like this - that's how its structured. No way would anybody be able to mix 45 real tracks like this, in real time, in 60mins. Its the same way Armin Van Burren does his ASOT sets, or Markus Schulz does his GDJB sets. Some of them are recorded live - but to produce a set with so much consistent quality, time after time...they use Abelton.
The paradime of "what is a DJ" is now shifting anyway. Laptops & computers are becoming more widely accepted as standard gear. Everyone starts to come up to the same skill level. So each person then has to work harder to make themselves stand out.
But don't get me wrong...I wish I knew how to "power use" Abelton Live. I'd love to do stuff like this.
