I'm in Central Texas, 8 miles east of Sam Marcos. (30 minutes from Austin.) I have a 5 bedroom, 3 bath house on 1 acre. It cost me $50K. My last house, that I bought in 1986, cost $35K, but it was only 2 bedroom/2 bath on 1/3 acre. The cost of living is low here. If you can't survive in Texas, you're lazy.

WTF thats ******* cheap......my parents live a bit outside of stockholm they have 3 bedrooms, a livingroom, kitchen and bathroom, and they payed 1,3 mil swedish kr for it, now its worth 1,9mil, and my apartman i got really cheap its 7min from center of stockholm, i got it for 350k and now its worth 2,1 mil, its one bedroom, livingroom and a tiny ass kitchen and bathroom.....

Good God. That's what we call an "efficiency" apartment. They are so small and crappy that no one "sells" them here. They are rentals only.

You should see my master bath. You'd die for it. It's the reason I bought the house. It has a garden tub (huge), a large shower with 2 bench seats, 2 sinks, etc. It's fantastic. When I first saw it, I stood there, stared, and said, "I have to have this house."

3 months and $5K worth of repairs later, (Yes, I worked on the house for 3 months getting it ready for the FHA inspector and spent $5K before I even knew for sure that I would get the loan.), I closed on the house. Motivated seller (it had been empty for 3 years and the burglars had been in it) and motivated buyer. It was a deal made in Heaven. There were 4 empty houses (including mine. all repos.) on my street when I first saw it. Now all the houses here have been bought and 3 new houses are on some of the remaining empty lots. Perfect timing. :grinning:
