I can look for the spelling rules for ' het ' and ' de ' in a book I have, as Dutch learn by their parents and at school mostly when they're very young. Expliciting the very 'rule' is rather a teacher's job.



het huis - the house
het paard - the horse

de auto - the car
de boom - the tree
