You know you're from a small town when …

1. The "road hog" in front of you on Main Street is a farmer's combine
2. You don't signal turns because everyone knows where you're going anyway
3. No social events can be scheduled when the school gym floor is being varnished
4. You call a wrong number and they supply you with the correct one
5. Everyone knows all the news before it's published; they just read the hometown paper to see whether or not the publisher got it right
6. A "Night on the Town" takes only 11 minutes
7. Running from the cops consists of hiding in the cornfield
8. You have to name six surrounding towns to explain to people where you're from
9. Headline news is who grew the biggest vegetable this year, or the "first buck of the season"
10. There is no point in high-school reunions because everyone already knows what everyone else is doing
11. Driving cars up and down the main drag is a universal high school experience
12. You can name everyone you graduated with
13. You ever went to parties at a pasture, barn, or in the middle of a dirt road
14. You said the 'F' word and your parents knew within the hour
16. You schedule parties around the schedule of different police officers, since you know which ones would bust you and which ones wouldn't - same thing goes with the game warden
17. You ever went cow-tipping or snipe-hunting
18. School gets canceled for state sporting events
19. You could never buy cigarettes because all the store clerks knew how old you were, and if you were old enough, they would still tell your folks
20. When you did find someone old enough and brave enough to buy cigarettes, you still had to go out to the country and drive back roads to smoke them so your parents wouldn't find out
21. It was cool to date someone from the neighboring town
22. You had senior skip day
23. You don't give directions by street names, you prefer to use family/friend’s names (turn by Nelson's house, go two blocks to the Anderson's, turn left, and it's four houses down across from the football field)
24. You car stays filthy because of the dirt roads, and you will never own a dark vehicle for this reason
25. The town next to you is considered "trashy" or "snooty" but in all actuality, its just like your town
26. You refer to anyone with a house newer than 1980 as "rich" people
27. You bragged to your friends because you got pipes on you truck for your birthday
28. Anyone you want to see or talk to can be found at either Dairy Queen or the feed store
29. Directions are given using "THE" stoplight as a reference
30. Weekend excitement involves a trip to the grocery store
31. Your teachers call you by your older siblings names
32. Your teachers remember when they taught your parents
33. You can charge at all the local stores
34. The closest mall is 45 miles away
36. It is normal to see an old man riding through town on a riding lawn mower
37. Being able to hit a road sign with a beer bottle while driving down the highway is considered a necessary skill
38. A cool vehicle has big tires or a bad-ass stereo (or both)
39. Driving to a party on a four-wheeler is quite normal
40. You know exactly where to go when someone tells you the party is “at the lake"
41. You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from a small town!!!!!!!

If you can relate to at least 85% of these things, then repost this :mask:

Paige, TX (where I used to live) is 100% true in this respect. The place was amazing. People who were born there, would grow up and move away ... and then a few years later ... move back! I never understood why anyone would EVER move back to THERE.
