Well, what makes Fire Wire trance? I admit it has a bit in common with what I'd call trance (uplifting vs non-uplifting is an unrelated issue), but it just feels like it's mostly...some other kind of music.

Historically speaking - Fire Wire has always been labeled as Trance. Turn of the millennium trance was very different than modern trance, granted.

Melodic Hook = Check
Central Theme = Check
4-to-the-floor beat patters = Check
Downbeat Kick pattern = Check
BPM range = Check

Structure and elements of Trance are there - hence the genre classification. Sure it isn't the most emotional or melodic track in the world when compared to others in the genre, but the characteristics of the genre are present.
