EOYC 2013 Community Contest Poll

Which sets did you enjoy *multi vote*

And one more...

User UPLIFTBOY was DSQ. He was not so smart boy :)

MY OPINION NOW. Votes from all new users (accounts) should be cancelled. Facebook SPAM FESTIVAL is not good for this competition.
But only one way to be in happy 14 :) I see. Unfortunately.

Of course not all. Some sets are too massive and must be in final 14 :) Ex Lucas set or Albert_An

Two of my friends have signed up in the last week and voted (but this is no attempt at cheating so I don't think deleting their votes is the way forward). They are genuine Artists and were going to sign up anyway.

If people have shill accounts and accounts created by bots then yes I think they should .... but genuine new members who have voted I think it may be unfair

Good point. I think, that votes from multiple accounts should be deleted, that's for sure. Deleting votes from new users may not be a good way, though. Well, that's my point of view. ;)

I agree with your points mate. My two mates were going to sign up anyway, I don't have Facebook (or the technical know how about how to create bot accounts hahaha).

think there are still a few more fakers on there though ;-)
yeah, I know what you mean. :)

Well, I don't want to make false accusations, but I think votes should be checked (and they eventually will, I guess). ;)

I cannot believe what i'm reading...cheaters...people using all available methods just to win a spot...I think, for me it is the last year when i put some effort into winning a spot for the EOYC. It is a loosing battle. Out of 50 entries, a handful are under 138 BPM...it has been a similar situation last year and the year before. I have nothing against 138+, yet the idea of variety looses its validity. Having all sets analyzed by a committee of experts in the field has been proposed in the past and i conquer to that. I think the votes from the community should represents a smaller percentage from the final score, thus, keeping the community involved into such contests. It is nothing more rewarding for a DJ but to be recognized both, by the experts and the community. Of course, particular cases from this could occur, yet they are unfortunate.

However, i understand the difficulties in implementing the committee of experts. I think more to the politics, where politicians get elected by voters who are not a committee of experts. Yet this is another area that requires a longer discussion...but similarities between the two are obvious :)

So, saying good luck to all participants is not appropriate anymore :) perhaps get better at your ethics and hope that respect will come with that...

For me deleting the votes of the new users it's not a good idea, because if there are my friends that want to vote for me, and it's not already sign up in the community, have to sign in...and it will be a way for knowing Ah.fm to a largely people...

in my case i've posted on Facebook, for anyone want to vote for me or anyone else, to connect them with the Facebook connection and voting for the contest, and it's not a way of cheating in my opinion....cheating is creating more account for voting yourself without ethic, and if anyone made these things, it's right to be disqualified...

However..good luck to all guys...5 days more of contest...:D

Thanks for everyone who voted for me so far (forum people) ! For the "doubters" Admins should check the mails of the voters from time to time and see whats legit whats not :)

good luck bro! :):super: you're one of my youtube heroes! hehe :ee:

First of all it is not a hateful comment, however I do want to react...

With all due respect to everyone's opinion but trance exists what +22 years? People now talk about 138, like it is a wild journey. In the first 15 years, the good old days, trance had a 135-160 bpm and everyone was just going mad. Yes you can argui between was it trance or rave, now labelled retro, well ****, I was flying.. Nowadays, what is left, for a contest like this I spend hours of finding tracks out about a 1000 on beatport. More than 75% are repetetive (as in 750 similar songs), more then half are mislabeled in genre trance, while not at all being trance. Depending on your preference of course, but I would say, trance has become too emotional, it is not a goddamn opera, it is a flight into energy. Don't get me wrong there are chilling vocal tracks, but some songs are just waaaaay off (not just vocal), most of them are exactly in that 128-132 range. Speaking of that range, that is also the range for electro. I have nothing against electro, it is fine, just DON'T call it trance and I hope beatport cleans up trance genre... ffs... lucky there was almost none in the contest. Anyway...

On the other hand of the voting here, I'm not gonna say much, I'm not much into scrambling votes votes, personally I don't ask anyone, I just share those goosebumps tunes that come out (always do). And I found some others here in the contest that spend alot of effort in it. Listening how it fits in, to make that perfect flow. However I find a lot of other kinds. Again, everyone has their opinion but some votes I don't get. I won't say much more, but have some doubts about it. Best is to compare entry IP and voters IP (ye ye VPN and proxy whatever), AH.FM cannot do more than try to organise a wonderful thing.

Wonder why so many people forget the music part... Popularity is nothing... Love is everything

Cheers
