There are probably some folks who actually believe that and went hamstering ( is that even an English word?) like crazy this month.
There definitely are. That is actually a real word in dutch? Meaning stockpiling & burrowing I guess.

yes i did most if it nly two people were not at home so maybe i make another try this afternoon

It good be that we call that 'last day' of the year 'oudejaarsdag' which means .. hold on..:tjon:....<= sorry about that interruption....which means 'old years day'. So the evening that of that day is therefor 'old years eve'. Does that make sense?:)
