nah :ee: in Social Sciences I learned the meaning of words depends on various things, amongst others: the meaning given to them by those who do use them. In different circumstances, with different goals in mind, with differences in ability and way of expression.

I do not disagree with that, but as said, think dictionary is authority. I think this is called the prescriptionist v. descriptionist debate. You are always trying to make things academic & philosophical, which is usually impractical. I think 99% of people would agree a mashup refers to plural tracks. To me that is enough to establish that meaning. I suspect dictionary concurs.
