the only acceptable reason is if the vocalist asked to be uncredited,
like earlier today during Exolight set

Yeah for me there's the whole distinction between a vocalist composing a song and a producer making the tune around it - obviously in that example the vocalist needs credit. But if a producer makes a tune that they then send to a vocalist who makes one up over the top...

I know, it all gets complicated and I've worried about it in my life more than any sane person ought to
