yep, that's a typical backbone router. throughput goes up to many TB/sec. all types of interface blades are available, ranging from modem dialin lines to optical interfaces with tens und hundreds of GB/s per line. awesome stuff

(some people would argue it's not a router, but a switch with routing functionality. others say it's a layer-3 switch. but for the sake of simplicity, it's a router )
