For the past couple of years my interested in electronic music fell to almost zero. A couple of artists like John 00 Fleming, Max Cooper and Sasha kept it from reaching the singularity and if it wasn't for them this new series might as well wouldn't happen.

We all know electronic music have changed and evolved (perhaps even devolved) and because of that our taste in music might change as well. My first experience with electronic music was back in 1995/6 when my dad put on Oxygene by Jean Michel Jarre. Since then I've followed labels like Anjunabeats from early 2000 and Enhanced Recordings with artists like Ferry Tayle, Temple One and many others. Later on it shifted to psy- and progressive trance. My taste went deeper and darker and it wasn't anymore about the "happy" melodies and 2-minute-long breakdowns, but instead the generel build-up to the climax. I even started my own show on Afterhours.FM (Cosmological Constant), but sooner or later I felt trapped. I didn't feel free to explore various new genres or artists and I had to stop.

6 months ago something happened - I listened to some older sets of mine and for some reason it did something to me. The reason I stopped was because I felt trapped in one genre, but I didn't want to experience that anymore, so I started to expand my search for genres and labels and here, almost 7 months later I've started a new series called Singularity. In this series I don't want to follow just one genre or a handfull of artists, so you never know what the next episode will focus on. It can be breaks, psy-trance, progressive trance, techno, deep house, electronics and so on.

My first episode focuses on Deep House and I absolutely love this genre! I hope you'll enjoy this set as much as me and hopefully you'll get back later on when a new episode is finished.

There are times in life where you have to dig a bit deeper and darker to find what you're looking for and this episode is one of those. Where 001 focused on Deep House this episode will focus more on Tech House and contains less vocal tracks, but more groove and darker atmosphere.
This episode was fun putting together since Tech House is pretty far away from my comfort zone, but I didn't want to seperate myself completely from the sound of progressive trance I used to love. There are tracks in this episode which reminds me of that time, but I also wanted to include a couple of breaks to mix it up a bit. Not only that, but this episode is kind of split in 2. The first 1:10 hours consists of tech house with a bit of melody and does resemble the first episode. The last 50 minutes or so I wanted to dig deeper and ended up focusing more and more on techno and the darker side of tech house.
Where the next episode will take me I currently don't know, but that's the fun of it - I feel more free to express my feelings and emotions in a current state of music and that's pretty amazing to me.

This set was extremely fun putting together. I know it took me awhile, but I struggled a bit finding the right tracks for me as I really wanted to create something special. The first part of the mix is slow, melodic and very easy to listen to, but it slowly builds up to a fantastic techno climax by the end. It actually is a bit longer (6 minutes) than usually, but I thought to myself that doesn’t matter as I’m really happy with the end result.
As before, I don’t know when my next set will be ready, but I feel that’s a good thing as I don’t want to “live” by a deadline for something which I consider to be a hobby. I also don’t know what genres will be put together, but I’m currently working on a chill-out / electronica set – I’ll make sure to upload it whenever it’s finished, but I honestly have no idea when that’ll be.

Another month, another episode (almost) – this one took a while to finish since I’m currently working on a very special episode, which will be ready next month. This time around I wanted to make a pure mellow ride of a set, but, as always, it didn’t quite turn out that way. Don’t worry, you’ll definitely get your melodic tracks for the first hour and 10 minutes, but after that it turns into a bit of a monster towards the end. (It is definitely the first time the word “Decapitated” have been used for one of the titles)


This episode does have a few very special tracks: To starter it contains one of my favorite tracks of the year so far, Kenton Slash’s remix of Solution. It also contains a rearrangement mix of mine and a rather creative transition between the last two tracks. (There are 20 BPM in difference between the two, so I really had to edit the two tracks in a special way to make it work).


As said earlier, next month’s episode will be quite unique as it is a set I’ve been working on for the last 2 months, so don’t expect a regular show for that one!

Time for the fifth instalment of Singularity and this is a rather special one. First off, it’s only 1 hour and 20 minutes long; Secondly, the regular flow for this episode is vastly different than what you’re used to.
This episode took me almost 3 months to plan, mix and finish before I was happy with it and most of that time I spend on listening to all kind of music, not just electronic. Here we’re talking about ambient, rock, acapella, breaks and so much more all mixed together to create a rather unique mix.

I won’t write much more about this episode, but you can expect a ton of edits of each track and a mashup of my own. When it was finished I had almost 550 edits (normally I have one-tenth of that for a 2-hour show), but hopefully you won’t get lost in the tracklist.

Back again for another episode of Singularity. I know it has been a while, but I really wanted to make something special, so I went back to look at my very first episode of Singularity and how I constructed the set - now, instead of 120 minutes - it's "only" 90, so it was a bit of a challenge.

Back again for another episode and with this one I really wanted to take you a bit back in time, but with a twist. For the first half I decided to mix newer tracks with a classic touch to them while the second half is more modern closing in on a brilliant techno/deep house track by the end.

I'm currently working on a full-on classic set, but I honestly don't know when it'll be ready.

Another month, another episode, yeah right, but anyway - here I am with another installment of Singularity and this time around I tried to look at the Deep House genre from a different perspective.


So far I've mostly focused on the individual tracks and how to create a flow with them, but this time I focused on the overall atmosphere and made it a "blueprint" for the entire episode - because of that I tried to look pass BPM, which opened many new and exciting doors. You can expect some unexpected tracks following each other because of that specific atmosphere I wanted to create and hopefully you'll like the result as much as I do.

Back again with another episode and this one is rather special to me - more than a year ago I wanted to create a set, which went from "a" through "b", "c" and "d", but never leaving the initial feeling and atmosphere. I wanted to make a mix, which started off slowly and ended with a lot more energy, but it had to feel natural with no sudden changes in tempo nor energy - and I think I finally did it!

This episode starts off rather slowly with some lovely tracks by afinss, Matt Karmil and Lukas Bohlender and ends with a couple of bangers from Dusky and Miguel Bastida - I even included a trance track from 1990!

Katadunkass - Singularity 011 (2008 Uplifting Set)

Time for episode 11 and time for something new! This time around I decided to move away from Deep House and instead focus on uplifting trance from 2008'ish. Why this year? Well, I honestly don't know. It could have been any year from that period, but for some reason I decided to go with a 10-year-old-uplifting-celebration-set.

Uplifting trance was my way into trance and just because I don't listen to new stuff in of that type I can definitely enjoy the older stuff.
I picked some of my favorite uplifting tracks from that time, but if you feel like I forgot a specific track which meant a lot to you, then I apologize!

I hope you'll enjoy this special set and next time I'll most likely turn my eyes on Deep House yet again.

Time for another episode of Singularity, this time focusing yet again on Deep House. I wanted to create a mix, which felt like a natural progression from episode 9 and 10 and because of that this episode does feel faster and bigger than usual.

The episode starts with a rather nice opening track, very mellow and subtle, but quickly turns into something more progressive. Almost all of the tracks have been edited with to fit and to create a specific flow, so I hope you'll like it!

Another month, another episode (Yeah, like that's ever going to be a thing). This episode is rather special to me; Not only because I absolutely LOVE every single track in it, but because of how much fun I had putting it together.

For some time now I've been wanting to create a set of Breaks, Deep House and Trance, but with a twist and I think this is the closest I've ever come accomplishing that.

So, instead of focusing on the tracklist and wondering whatever track is playing at that moment, it back and enjoy the thing as a whole. Expect a ton of edits and rearrangements to almost every track in this set.
