it's putting things in a compact (too) simple way. Avoiding long discussions about ' re-do''s, re-producing and what not. Me myself do compare using the well known sequence of notes of Beethoven's Fifth. About everyone in Western society knows that melody. Everyone can take this as a basis for something new, and such happens frequently. One (irrelevant if it's a bedroom DJ, a DJ 100 world famous DJ, a producer or a performer, presenting his/her/their new masterpiece to the public, cannot do, is present the very music as 'invented, created' by his/her/their own. That's impossible, the Fifth is alreay invented a few centuries ago by one special individual. His name happens to be Beethoven. Bummer for nowadays very famous and 'very important' artists. But ignoring the name of the real inventor, irrelevant if it's a genius or just a humble small name (so far), is just a no-no and misleading the listening audience imho. At times, music is about decency too.
