...I personally blame the police and the security because there was NOT A SINGLE Policeman or Security inside the tunnels. You couldn't even breath in the tunnel because nearly all the oxygen was gone. People fainted in it, had to be reanimated, people tried to escape with climbing walls, police stopped them and they felt back down...
MANY HOURS before that accident happened, people already wrote in twitter and facebook, that the police should do something, i saw many people with panic in their eyes. Security, even if you wanted to leave the festival-area through the emergency exists said, emergency exists are closed, they should go back to party... **** THEM...
I hope the guys are going to be in court and go to prison for a long time... they fuckin' killed people... Ages before the Loveparade started, people asked "How can you do such an event on that area?" and people said that the Tunnel is a HIGH Security Risk...
...
sorry to hear that you were affected and for sure this must have been an upsetting event for you.
Nevertheless don't confuse the powers of security or even the police.
The police is there to uphold the law but has no powers to rectify the short commings of the organisers. Same for security, they are there to look after the event but in the end still have the objective of the organisers in mind who pay their wages. And from what I know were hopelessly understaffed.
In hindsight the only people who are to blame are the organisers, trying to squeeze an event that attracts a million plus ppl into an enclosed space barely able to hold 250,000 and the officials who gave their stamps onto the permissions, just being keen on promoting the city at all cost, in this case the cost of lives. That happens when greed and profit seeking takes over, Berlin was the only place for the parade and nothing would have happened there as it was an open space, ppl could come and leave as they pleased.
Sad to see such a traditional event and great forum for electronic music dissappear under such circumstances.
