I am asking cause in Bulgaria we have the same slavic surname. We usually take our grandfather's name or some other distant relative. :) All second names or father names here usually end with -ev or -ov. Both of my father name and surname are Iliev, my father is Ilia/Ilya and probably my great grandfather had the same name. :grinning:
