we should get a relay server in india :) you got any friends dhumketu ? :)

Are you serious? If yes, then please tell me what should I asking for as requirements for a relay server.

Ok, got it now, it was the routing to Austria which cause the buffers with 48K and not with other links.

Regarding the stream rate, here is a screen shot showing RealPlayer, you can see clearly that it is streaming on 65K, and the rate differs every time I connect, I remember, I had to try many time in order to get the 40-48K stream (sometimes it goes up to 100K)

I am just feeding back, nothing serious I am suffering at the moment, since my connection is been restored and back to the 192K stream :).

I think that is a realplayer issue, i just tested it in VLC (really love this player)

-offtopic- OH! VLC player streams shoutcast?

bye bye winamp

oh and about the buffering issues..I'm just throwing ideas out, but a mono codec has been known to work better with lower kb/s's. Might wanna try that if you can.

Well..I didn't end up liking it all that much..I like to use my dedicated media buttons to control my music playback..and it's giving me a hard time setting those buttons..so yeah.back to winamp it is ..

seems to be the only player that supports global hotkeys..

i would never use anything other than Winamp :P

Didn't think you'd have come to live in Canada or North America at all. 20 years is quite the commitment.

wangstramedeous..is there anything special you're expecting to get from Montreal? :friends:

Sorry about that I got lost in other stuff for a while. Honestly I've never lived in the city but Montreal seems like a great place to start. The place reminds me a bit of Europe with its architecture. I've heard good things about going clubbing out there and the trance scene is supposedly good as well.

I may not be one of the staff..but this is what I think.
Tagging every track in advance would mean the staff would have to continually run after the DJs for their tracklists, which means more work. I think they're content with the workload they have right now :P./

Also some DJs do not always have a tracklist ready and/or song tracks are left as ID-ID.

Another thing is tracks that are not yet released but the label wants to give people a little taste of what's coming up by so and so artist. I guess you can tag it as not revealed..but still..

Besides, by doing this people have even less of a reason to check the forums and maybe sign up.
It kinda sucks to have over 1000 people listening but only 5-15 people on the forums..So far the only times this station gets many people on the forum is when there are big events or awaited artists playing.

Okay, I take a hard line on this. I have been with this place more than a year. I come here every single day and for many hours. I want to know the name of tracks. It doesn't have to be automatic like tagging and stuff. Its down to the dj and its not hard to do.

If its an id id, thats okay, tell us, but otherwise I want to know what i'm listening too. I dont want to have sit here and guess which is what happens a lot. If the dj has been told by a record label not to reveal any of his tracks then he/ she can at least tell us that.

This is up to the dj. The dj already has a tracklist otherwise how would he/she know what to play in the first place. There is no excuse about that one. He/she can post this tracklist in one of couple of ways. He/she can be here and post the tracks as they go along or just put a full tracklist down at the begining or at the end. he/she can send the tracklist to one of the staff to post for them.

Its so simple a child could do it. it helps everybody. Its a courtesy to the listener. Its take a couple of minutes to do and there is just no excuse for a dj not supplying tracklists unless specifically told not too in which case tell the listener there will be no tracklist and why.

There are new people coming in here everyday. Many of them ask what is it they are listening to. It doesn't set a good example to people that you have tell them that the dj hasn't bothered to leave a tracklist. We are listening on the radio, this is not a club situation. You are catering to a different audience. This is my opinion.

I agree with you, but it still comes back to the staff running after the DJs for tracklists. But yes..in fact I would say it's the DJ's responsibility of providing a tracklist.

Also, the OP meant that on your Media Player you can see the track name, which is quite different from simply providing a posted tracklist.
