It’s now six years since OTR exploded onto the Trance scene! It’s hard to believe that so much time has passed since those first events at the Wicker Arches in Sheffield, but this March sees OTR hit its 6th Birthday! And what an amazing six years it’s been! From these early events at the Wicker Arches and Club Void where we celebrated our first birthday we quickly outgrew the venue. As OTR became increasingly popular we needed a larger more suitable venue and re-located across Sheffield to the awesome award winning Plug Nightclub where we currently reside.
Our 5th birthday last year was an incredible success and saw a packed out club witness the blistering beats of Sean Tyas, Menno de Jong, Bryan Kearney and an OTR debut from the hugely talented Orjan Nilsen. Incorporating impressive pyrotechnics, new club birthday décor and an incredible atmosphere with our OTR faithful it’s a birthday event that we’ll not forget! Following the birthday, OTR continued its success through 2012 with events at Plug, but also working with other huge trance brands hosting the main room at Godskitchen’s last ever event at Air – SixFiveTwelve, and ‘The Club’ at Digital Society and Goodgreef in Leeds, in addition to another successful trip taking the OTR brand out to Ibiza. Which brings us to this coming March where we will be showcasing some of the biggest names in the business for our 6th birthday.
Headlining proceedings, and making a much anticipated appearance at OTR, we have none other than Irish DJ and Producer… JOHN O’CALLAGHAN! Firmly established in the A-list trance elite and perhaps one of the most in demand DJs on the scene at the moment it seemed fitting for him to grace our decks for our 6th birthday!! Those of fortunate enough to witness his memorable set at Godskitchen’s Global Gathering or any of those JOC sets during the last Ibiza season will know that you are in for a treat. With his high energy sets and huge productions to his name JOC is gaining an army of fans worldwide. You can guarantee his set at OTR will be one to remember!
Next up we welcome back one of the most requested DJs to return to our decks… UMMET OZCAN. Following his OTR debut in September 2011 we have been inundated with requests for his return. And who can blame you? Turkish born but based in the Netherlands Ummet plays all over the world. He’s produced one of the tunes of 2012 with the huge ‘The Box’ which has dominated the charts and even collaborated with the likes of Paul Van Dyk on ‘DeaYor’. With support from all the A list DJs from Armin to Tiesto and Sander to Schulz he has certainly made his stamp on the scene. With his unique style of uplifting forward thinking trance and an array of fresh material it’s clear to see he has an incredible future ahead of him.
Adding to our huge birthday line up we welcome back OTR favourite Irish Legend BRYAN KEARNEY. With his cutting edge sets, awesome mash ups, bootlegs, remixes and hidden gems he’s become a firm favourite with our clubbers. Racking up an impressive list of gigs this year all over the globe and has recently been booked to play Armin’s ‘Are you afraid of 138?’ stage at the huge ASOT 600 he continues to impress dancefloors the world over.
Completing this huge birthday line up we welcome an OTR debut from LOST EMOTIONS. Flying in especially from Malta we look forward to having the ‘Trancespotting’ residents warming up proceedings on this very special night. Our very own MIKE BEAUMONT takes up resident duties and completes this talent-fest!
With our recently refurbished venue, LED walls, visuals, a new laser and OTR birthday décor this promises to be a night of epic proportions!!! Happy 6th birthday OTR!!!
