I personally have a PC, an HP dv9540us for all my mixing of sorts. It gets the job done even for a 1.5GHz Core 2 Duo (But at least its a dual core!) and I'll upgrade it to 2.4GHz this summer anyway. Specs:

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium x86/Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.5GHz
Chipset: Northbridge: Intel 965GM, Southbridge ICH8M
RAM: 2GB (2x1GB) @667MHz
Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce 8600M GS (overclocked)
Sound Card: Realtek High Definition Audio
Wireless: Intel 4965AGN
LAN: Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC
HDs: 2x120GB@5400RPM
Extra thing: Fingerprint sensor for using your fingerprint as your password for your windows account, email, and programs
Ports: 3xUSB, 1xSVGA, 1xHDMI, 1xS-Video, 1xs400 firewire, 1xExpansion Port 3, 1xRJ-45 port, 1xmodem, 1xPCI Unknown (I use it for my media remote), 2xaudio, 1xmic.
Screen: 17" WSXGA

I like to use Virtual DJ and Logic Pro 8 :)

:music: I lova mah techno :music:

funny to put VDJ and Logic in one sentence hehehe...

well since Logic was bought by Apple in '02 you will find it tricky, actually nearly impossible, to run on a Wintel box.
there are maybe hacks that could allow to do so but the overhead you would pay defeats the purpose of a stable running DAW.

But it doesn't need to be Logic, there's always Cubase, Sonar (my fav), Reason (though a bit too self contained, esp audio import, but still possible via ReWire), Live, FL Studio etc. :grinning:

my setups are "fairly" old but for the moment absolutely sufficent for what I do.
well, everything is old today after 6 months innit?!

cool thread :) here are my specs of my laptop that I use everyday, I used to game but go out of it, very addicting haha

MacBook Pro 15"

  • 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 2GB memory
  • 200GB hard drive
  • Double-layer SuperDrive
  • NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB
  • wifi ABGN
  • FireWire 800 & 400
  • Audio IN Jack

It does the job for my everyday use such as browsing, email, AH stuff, decoding, encoding etc :)
Battery life is really good on this (5hours with wifi on) have been really happy with it, but it does come with a heavy price, but then again 48$/month is not bad :P
