I think I could bear it better than the idea of living with very strong hurricanes. At least Ike only hit here as a tropical depression, nearly just a low.

I still have no idea of where I actually would like to live though.

My sister finally got electricity back this past Tuesday. She lives in southeast Houston.

~Angel~'s home was pretty much destroyed. She just got her first insurance check yesterday, but she has to give that one to her mortgage company. She gets the next one to rebuild her house with. She will have a brand new house when it's all said and done. I'm really happy for her. Did you all know that she and Beau (Bo) got married? Then they bought their house. The renters that had it before they got it had messed it up pretty bad, so the hurricane was a good thing. She gets to fix everything wrong in her house and then some. Frankly, I'm thrilled for her.

Maybe for you, but us Texans think that October is the best month of the whole year. It's when ALL the church festivals and other outdoor festivals take place. There's gonna be a huge music festival in Austin on Town Lake (remember the bats?) this month. The ACL Festival (Austin City Limits, a music program on PBS (public broadcasting TV station) KLRU. I never go to those. Too crowded. And no Trance.

oh - ok .. .. ..

but what a great time we had ! ​

My sister, on the other hand, had NO property insurance on either one of her heavily mortgaged homes, nor on her VERY heavily mortgaged business. She got extremely lucky, only minor tree damage.

I expect her to have to declare bankruptcy within the next 2 years. She got herself in a big mess.

I had talked to Angel about it once. I'm glad she's getting to fix it how she wants to, but I really wish she hadn't stayed there.
