I'm fine, but Ableton is a bit of a headache lately. I have Live 8.0, and donwloaded the update to 8.2. Then I stupidly recorded an entire 2 -hour show with 8.2. It then crashed repeatedly. Even the crash report crashed :angry: And to top it off the geniuses at Ableton decided to make 8.2 have a new file format which is not compatible with my earlier version, so I could not even open the file there. I ended up losing the whole thing.

Back to the old version now, but I'm trying Sound Forge 10 now. :)

composer and performer : ranks 1 and 2 to me. Any DJ is 3rd at most: only when remixing...

1. composer. Here's were the music world starts. Without composer, no performer, no remixer, no DJ
2. performer. As soon as I hear a vocalist, I want to know his/her name. Any contribution to a track is entitled to be mentioned. How would you feel having contributed a given track - and your name was omitted ? :cap:
3. now it's time for remixer, eventually
4. and here's our DJ.

A composer can produce his creations very well without any of the numbers 2-4 :wink:
A performer's performance depends on a given composition. Yet a performer can do without a remixer or a DJ

Often times though, as might be the case with that PPK remix, licensing can play a part in what names are able to be attached to what track. For instance, I was talking with Arnej the other day and he is finally releasing his remix of Time Gate by Marc Vision here soon, only because of certain licensing restrictions/not having certain records anymore/etc. he has to release it as a remake, aka. Arnej - Time Gate. Sometimes unfortunately the business side of things does come into play.

:yes: I just keep things simple : once a producer / composer's name is put, it's there to me: forever. Whatver imaginary 'business' imaginary constructions are put :smile: But: thanks for your ' in depth ' response :grinning:
