Long trips are just part of the experience. I had to wait 3 hours for the trains to leave Utrecht after TE. A train that stopped on every crappy little station. Was it worth it? Totally.

There are 3 ways to get to Den Bosch:

Amsterdam - Utrecht - Den Bosch
Amsterdam - Rotterdam - Breda - Den Bosch
Amsterdam - Utrecht - Nijmegen/Arnhem - Den Bosch

So the first one isn't possible. The other 2 routes are. They will both take about an hour extra as well, so it doesn't really matter if you use the bus that the NS provided or take a detour by train.

For the guy freaking out on the last page, if you buy a ticket for the train, just a regular Amsterdam - Den Bosch ticket, you are allowed to use that to get in the bus. So no worries mate. :friends:

Thanks again Hawkeye, that is precisely the information I needed, Yes I was flipping out because it's my first time in a foreign country and I'm expected to travel through 5 new cities on an unfamiliar system/ It had sounded like I needed to purchase loads of tickets and transfers but a simple ticket to Den Bosch and a superb playlist on my ipod I should be right on time.

Getting home is a whole different story, Ill be tried from Lumi & Asot back to back then I need to take 2.5 hour train, 1.5 hour flight to Frankfurt, 8 hour flight to Toronto then another 1.5 hours flight back to this shit hole..Sleep is for the weak?

By the way, for the people using the train, buy a 'weekend retour'. This is a ticket that allows you to travel from Amsterdam (or Utrecht or whatever) to Den Bosch on saturday and back the next day without any extra charge. You can even use it on friday after 18.00.

The whole round trip for one consolidated price!!! That's fantastic news! Hawkeye buddy, is there anything you CAN'T do? :super: Your support is truly appreciated.

Hawkeye buddy, is there anything you CAN'T do?

I've lived in Amsterdam for 20 years and been living in Den Bosch for 2 years now, and I don't have a car. So pretty much any question about public transportation between Den Bosch and Amsterdam is familiar stuff to me. :)

Time to register on this board now maybe=)

Me and 6 or 7 friends coming to NL aswell for #500 and will attend to Lumi the 8th. Will stay in Amsterdam in a hotel close to the centralstation and now when I saw this info about trains we were thinking of getting a taxi probably both ways or maybe just home. Do you who live there any suggestions of taxi-companies that have mini-vans and wich is the cheapest?

And saw about this 500 preparty in bosch, is it full?

Basically is anything over 125 too full, but whatever. Come if you want to. :)

A cab is really, REALLY expensive, especially for such a long drive. Don't recommend that at all. If you really want to, go ahead. I can't really help you with cab companies, I never use a cab because it's so darn expensive. In Amsterdam, all cabs are owned by TCA. When in Holland you can call them at 020-7777777. That's all I can say.

Hmm, how much is that weekend retour ticket for bus/train? Was hoping it wouldn't differ so much from sharing a cab 7 or 8 ppl...

A two way ticket from Amsterdam Centraal to den Bosch costs 27 euro. Even if you try to share a taxi with 7 or 8 people you're not gonna get anywhere near to that price a person.

Breda is only 35 minutes away by train. I can tell 'cus my favourite football team plays there. :) I also know there is a cheap hotel right across the train station there. Forgot the name but I believe it was 25 euros a night or something.

BTW: my dorm flat has a own parking. Gate can only be openend with a key, which obviously I have. So if anybody wants to park there, no problem.

lol i should've checked Dienstverlening voor iedereen die met de trein reist. NS voor reizigers 10 - Reizigers... i didnt :D:D:

I would buy 2 tickets for ASOT 500. If you want to sell them, let me know.

Don't worry freakingoutguy (that's your new name btw :friends:) the travelling stuff is part of the experience. Especially if you're coming from so far away. The experience and being able to tell your mates back home a story that you 'got a train from Amsterdam went to a club it was good', is no where near as interesting as the adventure you'll have making your way there with a few challenges, meeting awesome ppl along the way and all the twists! Don't worry, you'll be fine. There's loads of ppl going from Amsterdam to Den Bosch on Saturday and then Den Bosch to Schiphol, thousands in fact, so we'll all be in the same boat and we'll all help each other get there and back and have a wicked time along the way!!

Btw you can try this Dutch train website (Service for everyone who travels by train Travellers NS travellers) which is in English, I've found it pretty useful. Looks like about 2:15 or so for the Den Bosch -> Schiphol journey, so only an extra hour, which actually just means a nice extra nap to dream about the awesome time you just had. Just remember to wake up at your stop!! :megacrazy:

Maybe catch you there man!

BTW HAWKEYE-> Is there some plans for music / dj'ing etc at this excellent pre-party you are kindly arranging? Really looking forward to it! :friends: :beer2:

Contacted the hotel we will stay at to see if they had any deals with cab's or transfer-companies wich they hadn't but got this reply:

"The NS; the Dutch company in charge of trains in Holland, has given no information of cancelled trains on the given date. If there will be a cancellation, NS mostly tries to arrange substitute transport.
You can also travel to the central station of Gorkum. There bus 121 will depart to the central station of Den Bosch.

When you are at the central station of Den Bosch, beware that it will be 20 minutes walking to the Brabanthallen.

You might call a taxi to take you there: 003273 777 7777
"

Tried google maps to find "Gorkum" but couldn't find..?

I have a DJ set which will be in use at the meeting. It includes:

2 DAP speakers
1 Palladium 400 Vintage amp
1 DJM-400 mixer
1 CDJ-800 mk2
1 CDJ 200
Reloop RH-3500 headphones

It's not GREAT, but it's usable. If any vinyl junkies want to spin some records as well, I also got 2 Gemini PT-2100's, I can set those up as well if needed.

Something like a 'meeting timetable' isn't arranged. Bjorn Akesson will probably lay down some tunes, and so will I obviously. Basically anyone that is interested can take place behind the decks if you ask me.

Looks like Phillip Alpha won't make it but Kandi will probably come, but ehmm I would love to spin for a bit too ^^ :music:
Btw hawkeye? YOU ROCK!

Hello all. The misses and I would like to come by the pre-party wherever it may be (hopefully collocated with booze) if there is still room. It sounds like there are a lot of people going already. Sign me up for one of those essential lanyard/mug combos as well. I'm flying in early AM on the 9th from Africa.

sure!

wow, this seems fun to join :)
i wonder if i can come aswell ?

Sure you can!
Feel free to come along, have a beer, listen to nice music and talk to some great people from the afterhours.fm community.

You can find the address details at the beginning of the threat.
Furthermore there is a facebook event, where you can check-in to state that you will stop by.

:megacrazy:

So see you there!

Cheers,
Chris
