Moving to the exterior now - all the outside lights are done. These looks fairly ordinary at the moment, but in time I will upgrade them to those funky up/down lights.

The airconditoner is in!! I can just imagine it now...turning this on, makes the polar ice caps get just a little bit smaller. :P

They've also finished the balcony:

Around the other side of the house are the gas fittings for the stove. The cooktop we have is a gas stove, but electric oven. So for gas, we're just going to get 2 x 9kg bbq gas bottles.

The vents for the bathroom and ducted rangehood are also done:

And the watertank & pump is now done to! With all the rain we've been getting lately, there should be a decent amount of water in the tank. This tank goes for around 4-5 meters underground. It holds 33,500L. First thing I'm going to do with it?...wash my car.

Now here's something interesting... our garage door. They installed it - but they put on the wrong one. This isn't the garage door we chose. AV Jennings will be changing it soon. Someone got their lines crossed somewhere, but once again - the service level from AV Jennings has been fantastic. We notified them of the error, and they gave us the choice of having cash credited back to us (if we wanted to keep the door), or for them to change it. We asked them to change it - and they were fine with that.

And...once again - the latest pic of the house.

nice bro looking good + taking shape... you will clean the front up ?

Ohh yep - they (the builders) do a full site cleanup. The inside of the house is yet to be fully cleaned, and they pick up all the rubbish around the land before they go.

your lucky then,,, off the hook. :P

Wow. And I thought my house was cool. Your house is awesome AND totally massive! (kiss) :super::clap::hug::cat:

So far, no one as asked the obvious question. How much is that going to cost you? :mask:

LOL! Well.... it cost a lot. And by a lot, I mean....A LOT. Now this number may shock you...but you have to keep in mind, housing in Australia _is_ very expensive at the moment. We haven't been hit with the "credit crunch" like everyone else has. Also, even though Australia is about the size of the USA, but with only 20mil people in it...everyone lives around the coastal areas, and the interior is pretty much uninhabitable.

And dont' forget - we have some of the most expensive housing in the world - so its not a true reflection of what it would cost ot build this house in another country.

But...its just over half a million Australian dollars (when you include the land).
The land was $202k, and the house itself was $348k once we added everything in.

Now that sounds like a lot of money, but when you convert it its:
$363k USD
246k British pounds
270k Euro's

Keeping in mind, its on 5300sq meters/1.3 acres/6388sq yards of land, and its only 30mins from Brisbane city. Its not that bad.

They've replaced the garage door. This is the one we picked. I prefer it over the other one.

new_garage_door.jpg

They've also connected the hot water system...
hot_water.jpg

And have now done the fly screens. All the windows have been done, but here is a picture of the back of the house. You can see the screens over the windows and the sliding doors.
fly_screens.jpg

This week we also recieved word our HSTP (Home Sewage Treatment Plant) has been "comissioned". Meaning...its now operational. This black thing on top has a cool pressure gauge, and a lever which I can turn to several positions to perform different functions (I have yet to RTFM on what each function does).

hstp_irrigation_01.jpg

The system turns waste water into "safe" grey water which is then sprayed out to the yard. They've installed two sprinklers at the back of the property. These can be extended with additional hosing - so I can then move the sprinklers anywhere they're needed. This should keep the grass nice and green.

And the other sprinkler...

And doesn't it look a lot better without the garbage out the front! Yep - they've done the site cleanup.

Now we have to start thinking about getting that driveway in ASAP. There's no way the 200SX's will make it into the garage at the moment.

OMG! $365,000? Eeeeeek!!!
That IS a lot of money no matter how you convert it! :yikes:

I have a 5/3 on 1 acre for only $50,000. It's nowhere NEAR as pretty or fancy as your awesome house is, (and your home is TRULY amazing) but I can afford the $600/month payment even on unemployment. After 4.5 months of unemployment, I'm so glad that I didn't pick more house than I could afford. I will not lose my home like so many are right now. And I do love my home. Very much. :grinning::love:

I'm 10 minutes from the college I will be going to (Texas State University-San Marcos), 30 minutes from Austin (live music capital of the world), 1.2 hours from San Antonio (remember the Alamo!), 4 hours from Houston, 5 hours from Dallas or Mexico. I'm centrally dislocated. Woot! :super::cat:

The big day is this Thursday, and we had our pre-handover inspection, and everything was pretty much in order. Jo & I spent our weekend appliance shopping - which was a lot of fun.

Today, the tiles were finished. This is how we will be recieving the house. The carpet will go down next week, and that will see the full completion of the house.

Here are the floor tiles. You can see that the hallway, and the kitchen area has been tiled. Where you see the cement slab, is where the downstairs carpeted area's will be.

The kitchen is now finished, and here is where I'll be iron chef'ing it up.

One thing the electrician forgot to do, was label the data points. I don't know which port is which room. It won't be that hard to figure it out and label them myself, which I'll do when I move in. I've also already organised telephone and internet. The port you see on the right of frame, will be the ADSL line. I've picked up a Billion ADSL modem (with wireless N), and in time, will have a gigabit switch + NAS setup under the stairs.
dataports.jpg

The ensuite is now finished aswell. Here is a photo of Jo's sink, and you can see my sink in the mirror.
ensuite01.jpg

Bath and double showers. They've installed nice lighting in the ensuite. I'm a big fan of downlights.
ensuite02.jpg

And here is the extra big/deep bath. Those of you that know me, will know I'm not the smallest person there is. I wanted a bath I could easily fit into...and now I have one.

Next update will be the carpet, and possibly also my speaker cable installation for the media room (which I'm going to get down, before the carpet guys roll in).

Wow!:w00t: Very professional work just by looking at the details.:good: Thats funny  brings back memories of when my house went through renovations last year!:)

GSUS what does it cost :O

In Holland something like this would cost billions :O

Jo & I have finally moved in, and we've spent the last week unpacking. I've only just now got my desk & computer set back up so I can post the last photos of the build process. But...this thread won't stop there. I'm getting a driveway next, and am getting quotes for ashphalt and cement. Plus I'll also document all the other projects around the house I do.

Last week we had our carpet laid, but just before that went down - I managed to lay some flat speaker cable in the media room. I bought some good speaker wire off eBay, and got it taped down to the floor boards, so the carpet guys could just roll over the top of it.

Here is the cable at the front of the room. I've left myself 1.5m of cable to play with, for each channel.

speaker_cable_00.jpg

Stretched out over the media room, the cables go directly to the back corners where future surround speakers will go.

And with that...the carpet guys did their thing. Here is the finished product, and the colour of the carpet we picked. :D

Since moving in, I've already setup the home network, and I bought myself one of these little beauties:
K100 NMT Player - Kaiboer Technology CO. Ltd.

All I can say, is that little box is the best money I've ever spent on home entertainment. A friend of mine put me onto it, and its basically a media decoder. You plug it into your network, and connect the output to your TV, and it can access shared folders or a media server. It'll play anything you throw at it....and I mean...ANYTHING. Divx, mp3, mpg, bluray, ISO files, wav, avi, realtime, flash video.

It also connects to the internet, and you can watch streaming media, apple quicktime trailers, flickR photos, CNET tv, espn sports etc etc. Its essentially media center PC, with no hard drive. It decodes media over a network connection or USB, and you can plug in an external SATA drive into it.

It cost me $325AU, and will probably be the only device I ever need. It plays the ISO's of my DVD's flawlessly. Even a few bluray rips I have - no problem. I was very impressed.

Planin @ its best !!! :bravo: Great work !!!

My son used to sleep in a crib:mama::)
