Ummm ... to start with, we Bengalis are voracious fish eaters, and not a single day passes without fish in our diet. Anyway, today am delighting my taste buds with one of our best dishes called "fish paturi" ( paturi is the bengali word for wrapped in leaf )
This dish basically consists of sea fish fillets that are marinated for a long time in a paste of wet ground mustard and green chillies and a few other spices. It is then wrapped in a strip of banana leaf, slightly smoked and then fried in oil.
And every bite of the prepared fish imparts three layers of flavours, leafy , followed by mustardy and finally that of the fish that just melts in your mouth!!
