Sorry Ma'am English is not the only ' universal ' language. Those times are history Apart from Esperanto, there's Spanish too, for instance. And the present generations are accustomed learning Chinese. The next true universal language !
Actually we do learn English too and we start to learn it even earlier than Swedish

The 2nd language here in Texas is, of course, Spanish. But there are sizable German and Czech communities here as well. But with illegal immigration being what it is here, Spanish wins out. Census numbers suggest that Hispanics will become the majority someday.
