my 'from the barrel' i had is already empty :cry: but both the nikka black and the from the barrel are quite tasteful and have also gotten way more expensive then i paid.

the 'only' non japanese ones i have (and are not empty :ee:) are a glenlivit std 1824 bottle (the glenlivit 12yo is discontinued :cry:) had some mcallan 21yo small bottles, but since i know some people i could get al those bottles for normal prices before /during the explosion of japanese whiskeys. bottles like the nikka coffey grain year 2000 or the hakashu 12yo are for when friends are visiting.

Awesome! Yea, Japanese is very unknown to me. I've only been drinking for 3 years now. I've gone through a lot of brands tho. I'll list some of my favourites in a sec.

My favourites are mostly from the speyside. I have 4 GlenDronach 18 left. They closed the distillery for 6 years so those 18 are actually 24 year olds. Decent price increase because of it too. Others I liked are Deanston 18, Macallan Double Cask 12 (altho overpriced very smooth), Glen Garioch 12, Balvenie 17 and others :)

i once had a heavily peated VERY young whiskey (only 3 years old) and it was delicious ..... speaking of speyside the famous 30yo apple brandy from ('rita') from nikka tastes almost like a old speyside whiskey , very delicious:
